Child Trafficking

Whenever we turn over the pages of the national dailies, we come across many headlines on child trafficking. The illegal traders have included children in their list like commodities. They make the children fall into their trap and the children fall prey at their lands. The illegal traders normally offer an angel like child candy, apple, sweets and what not. The children, who are basically poor, respond to their call. The traffickers catch them at different viles. They sometimes buy children from local agents at a very high rate. The unscrupulous traders sell them outside the country. Hundreds of parents go ma losing their sons and daughters. The law enforcing agencies are up and doing. Still, the traffickers goon doing their inhuman business years after years. Again, we know the sufferings of a child after he has been sold. We just shudder at hearing the unbelievable, unimaginable and inhuman stories of their torture. The government should come forward with newer policy to stoop the curse of child trafficking.

It has brought about revolution in the whole world. It can do extremely complicated work in all bracnches of learning. It can solve the most complex mathematical problems. It can put without any confusion. It can run a business, play chess or even compose music. It is widely used in the field of space administration, telecommunication, air traffic control and navigation of ships. So we can see that at present computer is used in every sector of life. If we do not have training on computer, we shall face various problems every moment. To cope with global world, computer education is a must at present, if we have computer education, we shall be able to prevent misuse of our time and energy by using computer in an effective way. In Bangladesh, we have to increase opportunity for computer education. Foreign countries like America, Germany and many other countries are interested to take thousands of IT specialists from our country. It is high time we took better steps for computer education to avail ourselves of this golden opportunity. Besides this, by taking computer education, many people will be able to get job in our country also. Finally, we can say that benefits of computer education cannot be described in a few words. No nation can prosper without computer education.

Human Resource Management

Human resource management is the strategic approach to the management of an organization. It is actually the process involved in managing people in organizations.

The sort of careers available in human resource management is varied. There are generalist jobs, such as, human resource assistance. There are careers involved with employment, recruitment and placement. Training are also conducted by trainers and orientation specialists.

Bangladesh is a developing country. It has plenty of resources. But all its resources have not been fully utilized yet. It has plenty of unused, unexplored natural resources which can help build many new industries. Its agriculture is potentially rich also. But among all these resources of Bangladesh, human resource is the most important. It can also be utilized productively. The huge population of Bangladesh can become a powerful source of human energy to build its economy. To utilize this huge population of employment has recently be taken by the Bangladesh Government. It has set up employment exchange centres in different place of the country to help unemployed people to get suitable jobs.

Self-employment system: Bangladesh is a populous country, but a large number of its people are unemployed. It is not possible for the government alone to give employment to all people. So self-employment is a possible solution to this problem. People themselves can engage in various economic activities. There are facilities for training in different trades and vocations available in the country now. People can train themselves in one or other of these trades and vocations available in the country now. People can train themselves in one or other of these trades and vocations. At present the government also provides loans and counseling and help to start an independent earning activity for the unemployed people of the country.

Employment of women: In Bangladesh women contribute almost 50 per cent of the population. They should also be included in the development programme. For the development have proved their efficiency in many areas. They are working in the mills and factories. They are also doing well in administration. Now it is necessary to involve them more and more in the economic activities which suit their ability and aptitude. A large number of women both literate and illiterate are in desperate need to be employed now. For helping them, employment exchange centers have recently been stared and effort are being made to find suitable employment for them.

Overseas Employment: Bangladesh is now utilizing its manpower in overseas employment. The Bureau of Manpower has been successful in finding a good number of jobs for Bangladeshi nationals outside the country.

Bangladesh has natural resources but it has a vast human resource. If we want to survive as a respectable nation, we must develop our human resource as human capital. So we need to create new economic activities and invent newer ways for utilizing our human capital.

World climate

The beautiful world in which we live is full of natural variety. There are high mountains, vast oceans, green forests and a large number of known and unknown animals. The submerged uin the great ocean of air. How wonderful it is!

Necessity of the ecological balance: the soil, water and air, and liberal sunshine in the sky are the main constituents of natural environment, in this conducive environment there emerged life sometime in the remote past. From one celled small creature there was created vast biodiversity in land, oceans and air . all these were possible by the favorable environment, weather and climate created in course of millions of years of evolution and natural development. All things of nature that form the environment are interrelated. Humans, animals and plants are interwoven with their surroundings like a complex web and by altering anyone part of the web one can affect all the other parts. To maintain the normal condition of the world environment and climate the elements of nature should remain furnished in such a way as Nature itself furnishes them. Favorable climate is essential for the safe and risk-free existence of humans, animals and plants on the ecological balance of the environment.

The main culprit of deforestation: once our cave living ancestors, the primitive men feared nature. But time came when they began to use nature. They utilized their intelligence and conquered nature. Through the development of science they explored the mystery of nature. With the increase of population their necessity increased. To meet up the increased necessity men used nature indiscreetly and as a result ecological i9mbalance brought about changes in the world’s climate.

The climatic change has occurred mainly due to the increase of temperature in the air.. the temperature in the air is being increased by the increase of greenhouse gases like carbon-dioxide chlorofluorocarbon-carbon, carbon monoxide, nitric acid, methane etc. among the greenhouse gases the amount of carbon DI-oxide is much more than other gases. It has been observed that after the industrial revolution from the mid 18th to mid 19th century has greatly reduced the photosynthesis process of plants. Deforestation and burning down of forest adds 100 million metric ton of carbon DI-oxide in the air every year. From the beginning of 20th century to 1999 0.3-1’celsius carbon DI-oxide has been increased. Climatologists predict that midway through the present century temperatures may have risen by as much as 4’c. this could catastrophically reduce mankind’s ability to grow food, destroy or severely damage wild-life and wilderness, rise sea level, create more intense storms and flood coastal areas and farmlands.

The ozone layer stretched from troposphere to stratosphere works as a shield and protects the biosphere from the serious harmful effects of ultra-violate rays of the sun. the increase of chlorofluoro-carbons is gradually depleting the ozone layers. CFC is used mainly in two ways: air conditioning and cleaning computer chips, The exposure of ultra-violet rays has much to do in spreading skin-cancer and blindness, reducing body’s immune system, damaging plant tissues and reducing sea creatures.

Rapid growth of industries: Global warming is being hastened by the rapid growth of industries, power plants operated by mineral fuels, motor vehicles etc. The oceans are also being affected both because of human waste and because of pollution caused by industrial waste products, oil seeping from damaged super tankers and from other maritime disasters.

The whole world is worried about the preventive ways for tacking environment pollution and climatic disorder. In different countries strict ban on poly bags is declared and legal operations to stop it are going on. Movements have been made to stop deforestation and encourage thee plantation. In order to prevent the depletion of the ozone layer the use of CFC has been restricted. There should be effective drainage system to pass away waste materials and poisonous chemicals. Instead of mineral/fossil fuel use of solar energy should have to be increased.

Buying Books

Buying books is one of the best habits of human being. A book is a store house of knowledge. We can travel many unseen places and know many unknown things through reading books. It relieves us from the monotony of daily life. But in our country, buying books has not become a popular habit. The students of our country read only textbooks for passing exams. Most of them do not have curiosity to get outside knowledge. Besides this, in our country, prices of books are excessively high. Books are beyond reach due to sky-scraping price. In the past, books were the only media for entertainment. People spent their leisure by reading books. But now, satellite TV channel has created many opportunities for entertainment. People are not so interested to read books. For this interest in buying books is gradually dying out. To build up the good habit of buying books, prices of books should be reduced. Children should be encouraged to build up the habit of reading books. Everybody should cultivate the habit buying of books from the very early age.

Air pollution

No living being can live without air. But it is polluted now. One of the greatest problems all over the world is air pollution. It is constantly being polluted by smoke from mills, factories and from carbon-mono-oxide gases emitted by motor vehicles. Big cities have thousands of cars, buses and trucks plying all day long. These vehicles burn diesel and petrol which produce a lot of smoke and pollute air. Specially, in the cities and big industrial areas serous air- pollution takes place. Over population is another cause of air pollution in our country. Railway engines and power houses burn coal and oil which produce smoke and air is polluted. Polluted air causes nowadays incurable diseases to men. Nature has lost its balance as treads are not enough now. So, it is high time to take proper steps to plant trees everywhere and to control the haphazard growth of industries. To make air fresh, the destruction of trees must be prevented. In fact, all possible steps should be taken by all concerned to stop air pollution.

Aims of education

The aim of education is to make a full and happy man. To achieve this purpose cultivation and development of the latent faculties of man are necessary. But man has a body and a mind. So education should aim at the development of both of them. Human brain has enormous capacities and education should aim at creating atmosphere and opportunities for developing those faculties. The brain cannot work properly in a diseased body. So the aim of education should be to create a healthy mind in a healthy body. And this can alone make a complete and happy man. So a complete system of education should include liberal technical and physical education. The liberal studies like literature, history, philosophy and the physical sciences broaden his mind. The technical education enables him to conquer the forces of nature and helps him to earn a living. The physical education gives him a good healthy body. Thus the aim of education should be to produce a complete enlightened man useful to the society and the humanity at large.

Aids, A Fatal Disease

AIDS standing for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is a deadly disease which makes human beings unable to resist it. It is caused basically by a virus called Hepatitis V. human cell of this disease is Lymphatic Virus there or in short HTLV 111. today this is the most fatal disease in the present world. This is a most tragic incident in the history of mankind.

Some scientists believed that HIV spread from monkeys to human’s between1926-1946.  But recent researches suggest that HIV most probably jumped from baboons to humans as early as in 1975 and grabbed numerous lives as an epidemic till 1980 in Africa. Researchers say first death happened from AIDS in 1959. in 1982, the term Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome came into the highlight. In 1984, Dr. Robert Gallow (VS) claimed to discover the virus of AIDS.

Illicit sex life in the globalize world has its dreadful impact on the sex life of Bangladesh and turned the life of Bangladesh into the clutch of AIDS. About 50% youths are addicted to pre-marital sex. The youths, economically insolvent attending brothel are on the increase. About 60% truck drivers are addicted to brothel sex in the post-marital life. Besides, sex exerts its black grip around the world because of satellite life and students, traders, bureaucrats, rickshaw pullers are the victims of it. In fact this disease keeps spreading. About 74 thousand Bangladeshis are going abroad –whose HIV is tested before VISA but after returning home most of them are affected with AIDS due to their negligence of using condoms. On the other hand nearly 1 lac foreigners are coming to Bangladesh with HIV.
Commercial blood donors sell their blood due to their want and many of them are attached with sexuality. Drug addicted people are spreading HIV by infusing needles and dishonest traders are selling reused needles and spreading HIV.

Presence of HIV virus in the human body can be detected 3 weeks to 3 month after it has attacked. Detection of virus is done with blood. An HIV patient is very conspicuous with typical expression with blood semen, secretion from the vaginal passage, tears urine and breast milk.

Some symptoms are dominantly expressed in the patient of HIV is positive. Body weight decreases abruptly, diarrhea continues for more than one week and body temperature continues for more than one month. Coughing., skin diseases with inflammation, fungal infection over the face along with other complications are the symptoms of HIV patient.
Use of condoms can prevent AIDS in the highest scale and number. By limiting sexually transmitted diseases, ensuring sex education for the growing generation, encouraging religious sexual behaviors and creation awareness among the people AIDS can be reduced and controlled.

Caution:
(a)    the experts, researchers and doctors, time and again, stressed on the need for creating a wide-scale awareness among the common and sabage people about the deadly disease.
(b)    The superstitious citizens of our country must have practical view towards AIDS and Basic Sex Education should be imparted as soon as possible.
(c)    The sex workers, their beneficiaries, customers must be educated in practical aspect of AIDS, its reasons and results of course.
(d)    The medicines and vaccines now available around the world must be allowed in our country in low tariff.
(e)    Mass media’s role is effective in giving emphasis on AIDS. Print media can also play a reformative role to make people conscious.
(f)      Seminar, symposium and rally can be arranged to awaken people about AIDS.
(g)    Above all, wide range screening test system should be spread to the grassroots level to detect the HIV carriers.

AIDS is our enemy standing at our doors and we should now understand that prevention is better than cure. We should fight against this fatal disease by our moral courage and prudence. We hope for a world free from AIDS.

Acid Throwing

Acid throwing is a terrorist activity which results in grave consequences. It is one of the most heinous crimes. Nowadays it has become a major concern in our country. Almost everyday we find the news of acid throwing in all the national dailies of our country. Mostly women fall victim to it. It results from multifarious causes, especially from the rejected love-offer.

In most cases this heinous crime is committed by the rejected lovers who think that it is their usual right to get their love proposals fulfilled. But they forget that the girl has also the same human right to reject such a proposal if it displeases her. It may be committed by a dowry hunting husband. In our country greedy husband and their relatives ask a great amount of dowry from their wives and if their fathers fall to meet their demand, the unfortunate poor girls fall victim to acid throwing. Sometimes, husbands demand movable and immovable property from their fathers-in-law and other near relatives of their wives. Generally girls do not want to bring or sell their poor fathers or relative’s property for their husbands. But selfish husbands insist them more and more and in failure they do not hesitate to throw acid to their wives.
Even children, the epitome of innocence and divine beauty cannot escape from the clutches of the acid throwers. Women, girls as their guardians are always anxious about the miscreants. They cannot go out alone and even if they do so, they are apprehensive of probable mishaps that may befall them at any time.

The girl or woman who becomes the victim of acid throwing may die or has to drag a miserable existence of she survives. Acid damages the part of the body where it falls and gives the victim an indescribable feeling of pain and anguish. It takes a long time to recover it. It burns the place and deforms the appearance, sometimes the victim turns blind. Though the victim however, recovers from physical pain, the painful experience can never be forgotten.
Generally, acid is thrown as a step of revenge. It is a crime not only against women but also against the whole humanity. It is more barbarous and ruthless than killing. A person killed once is out of all worldly pangs and sufferings, while an acid survivor has to survive constantly undergoing tremendous physical, psychological, and social torments. So acid throwing should be stopped at any cost.

To avoid acid throwing, the availability of acid must be made restricted and difficult. At present anyone can go and buy acid from the market. The policy regarding its import and sale is being ignored by businessmen to make quick profit at any cost. In recent years acid has been used for most trivial reasons and it is carried openly from one place to another. As a result, there occur accidents causing loss of precious lives. The govt. must take strict decisions so that the sale of acid is restricted.

Treatment and rehabilitation facilities for acid victims must be improved. In an effort to provide medical care for the acid victims, the govt. has established a burn unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Being the only such facility in the country of 130 million people it is at present inaccessible to victims. Long delays in medical care have hampered recovery of the most of the victims.
We should from women Repression Preventive Committee in every village or ward of the town.
The committee should be careful about the desperate young men. They may hold meetings once every month on this topic and if any such occurrence takes place anywhere, they should hand over the criminal to the police. Moreover, strict and exemplary punishment, with death sentence to the culprits, must be enforced. At present some NGOs offer counseling, skills training and there rehabilitation programmers to help su8rvigvors reintegrate into society.

It is a matter of great regret that although we have reports of acid throwing in other countries too, the number of incidents is probably the highest in Bangladesh. The criminals show no mercy in throwing acid to a dface3 that they loved a few days ago. There must be public awareness coupled with the concern that throwing acid to others is to throw it to oneself. Some criminals are destroying the image of Bangladesh. We cannot let the world think that we are a barbaric people. For too long, the matter has not been dealt with seriously. Let us hope that the criminals will be brought to book and the victims her all the support they need.

Health And Sanitation

Health is wealth goes the very well-known proverb. It normally indicates physical fitness of a person but it is more than this. Good health indicates mental soundness also. To keep out health sound and fit we have to maintain certain rules relating to walking, taking balanced diet, early rising, proper sleeping etc. indirectly some factors should be ensured to be healthy. Sanitation is one of them undoubtedly. In fact, sanitation plays a very important role to maintain good health.

Health and sanitation are related to each other. Proper health as well as a sound mind cannot be possible without sanitation.

The sanitation condition in Bangladesh is not so good. It means to keep the places neat and clean by sewerage system and clean water supply.
In urban areas normally people are educated and conscious and they try to be clean and health. The government has developed sewerage systems to protect the environment. In the cities also there are slums. The people liking in the slums are not conscious, solvent and educated. So they are not careful about sanitation. They eat uncovered food, do not keep their surroundings neat and clean and have not the sewerage facilities; some people in the big cities do not have any living place of their own. They sleep in the bus stops, train stations, even on roadsides. They pollute overall situation. They sleep in the bus stops, train stations, even on roadsides. They pollute overall situation. They do not have any sanitation facilities. So they keep waste here and there and create an abnormal situation.

In the village area, the environment is naturally safe and clean. All the food items are natural and healthy. But it is very regretful that most of the people here are unconscious and illiterate. They do not have sufficient idea about health and sanitation. They do not take clean and safe food. They have no standard sanitation facilities. They leave their waste (human waste) and other garbage without any consideration. Moreover, they are to use unsafe latrine which is really harmful to health.

There are many latrines standing by the river, canals etc. they always are used and made the sources of poison and pollution. All these things have made our sanitation problem directly or indirectly. Now health and sanitation has become a national issue.
Government has taken a project “sanitation for all”. The problem is given priority by the government. The situation has also been improved to some extent. Many people are now using proper sanitation in the village. But we have to advance more.

People must be careful about this. They have to cultivate the habit of taking clean and covered food. They should make the surroundings clean and comfortable. They should think that health is more valuable than wealth. With ill-health nothing can be done perfectly not even the religious duties. Media can play a vital role in this respect. Non-Government organizations should come forward with a view to improving this condition. They should make people conscious of the importance of health and sanitation. Only then we shall be  able to lead a happy and comfortable life. People then will enjoy a better life.

Dictionary

A dictionary is a book where we see the meaning of words. It is a very useful thing. The student life cannot be imagined without a dictionary. In 1225, the first dictionary was published in Latin language. In 1552, the English dictionary was published. It was published by Richard wholoat. It is thought that Samuel Johnson was the first man who published dictionary first. But it was Richard Wholoat who published it first. Dictionary has a great use in everyday life to find out the meaning of a word we use it. Dictionary may be of various kinds. Almost very country has their own dictionary. In a dictionary words are dressed alphabetically. So it is easier to find out the meaning of words gradually. Many students have a bad habit that they do not want to handle a dictionary. They do not want even to touch a dictionary. As a result, their knowledge cannot be increased. As in a dictionary there are found the meaning of words, pronunciation, the origin of words, idioms and phrases, anyone who uses it, can gather more knowledge. There are varieties of dictionaries for different users. For ordinary uses there may be a limited stock of words. For scholars there are big dictionaries in so many volumes, some emphasize pronunciation and some others the technical terms of a particular subject.

Adult Allowance

Adult allowance is a noble programme taken by the government in our country. In most of the developed countries of the world this kind of allowance is provided by the government or the adults are taken care of by the government. But in our country the adults are mostly dependent on their sons and daughters. As they do not have the ability to work and earn, they are sometimes behaved roughly by their issues. They have to pass the last days of their life depending on others which is a very painful experience for them. At that age they are not properly valued and treated by their issues. This allowance will help the adults to spend the last days of their life peacefully and happily. A budget, regarding the allowance of the adults was passed in the financial year 1997-98. a decision was finalized in the cabinet meeting on 20th October 1997., that every old-aged people will get TK 100/- per month which can be drawn once after every months or once at the end of a year. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh inaugurated the programme at Tungipara in Gopalgonj on 31st May 1998. Under this programme 10 people has been listed from each ward who will get the allowance. The government has prepared a list o 403110 people of 4479 unions of 461 thanas of the country under this programme. This programme is really a praise-worthy one that brings back smile on the face of the old people who are not properly valued and treated before. But the amount given by the government is not enough for them to live. So the government as well as the social organizations should join hands to ensure better living for the adults.
